Meet the weightwise team

Background

We are a close team of former colleagues and friends with collective expertise in the health, fitness and psychology fields. We first floated the idea of Weightwise back in 2016, with the aim of helping improve the public’s health and fitness (as well as ours!). Our approach focuses predominantly on motivation and mindfulness to maintain gains over the long term rather than using unhealthy ‘blitz’ diets. Over the intervening years, our approach has proved successful in the UK Midlands area and so we’ve now decided to branch into the online world to try and translate some of the techniques into bitesize chunks which other people with hectic schedules can use to get their weight and fitness on track.

Our backgrounds are varied, ranging from specific expertise in science, fitness and “well-being”, but branching further into psychology and assertiveness training. We have a fully qualified personal trainer on the team (take a bow Andy!) who will provide advice on exercise and training. However, we are always willing to learn ourselves, and welcome our readers getting in touch to suggest new ways of achieving these age-old goals.

Dr Marc Stevens

Dr Marc StevensMarc has enjoyed a 25 year career in both academia and industry, undertaking research into physical science with over 50 peer-reviewed publications to his name. He is a founder member of the Weightwise team and enjoys maintaining his fitness via racquet sports and a local gym membership.

Marc says: “Hi Everyone – thanks for checking out the BDAWeightwise website! I hope that some of the techniques and plans we discuss here can help you achieve your fitness and body goals. Part of the joy in this work is seeing people transform their lifestyles and achieve milestones which they never would believe they could reach. Hopefully that can be you too!”

Alison (Ali) Sanders BSc.

Alison headshotAli is a hypnotherapist with over 10 years experience helping her clients achieve change in their lives – whether it be quitting smoking or helping them relax and sleep better, much of Ali’s training is highly relevant for Weightwise transformation. In her spare time, Ali loves swimming and taking her Cockapoo for long walks!

Ali says: “So excited to be able to relay some of my experience on BDAWeightwise.com and help readers take strides on their individual paths to success. It sounds a bit of a cliché, but I get the most job satisfaction when I can see I’ve made a difference to someone’s life. We hope we can help you change yours.”

Andy Platt

PTAndy thumbAndy is the muscle of BDAWeightwise.com – a qualified personal trainer operating out of Sutton Coldfield. He has  a large portfolio of WeightWise clients who he motivates, cajoles and generally orders around very effectively.

Andy says: “Excited to share some of my fitness plans and muscle-building programs on the website. I’m a firm believer that routine is the key to progress, so I’ll be pushing my views on this, however much you squeal!”

Sarah Dixon

sarah headshotSarah is a working mum of two, with a background in sales training and assertiveness development. She recently hired Andy as a personal trainer and will be cataloging her progress on the website.

Sarah says: “I’ve found it easy in the past to teach motivational courses, but found it so hard to apply my own teachings to myself. My weight has been a source of frustration with me for many years, and meeting Andy and then Marc and Ali has really helped get things on track. So looking forward to working with my friends on BDAweightwise.com!”
